Bungie is inviting players to experience its upcoming extraction shooter, Marathon, ahead of its official launch on September 23, 2025. The closed alpha test is scheduled from April 23 to May 4, offering a glimpse into the game’s high-stakes, squad-based action set on the mysterious planet Tau Ceti IV.
How to Join the Alpha Test
To participate in the alpha, interested players must:
- Join the official Marathon Discord Server
- Use the /alpha command in any channel to receive a private message with a unique registration link.
- Complete the registration survey.
Please note that submitting the survey does not guarantee access. Invitations will be sent via email starting the week of April 14. The alpha is limited to North American residents aged 18 or older, and codes are tied to specific Bungie accounts and are non-transferable.
What to Expect in the Alpha
The alpha features:
- Four playable “Runners,” each with unique abilities.
- Two maps: Perimeter and Dire Marsh.
- Three-player PvPvE squads, focusing on extraction-based gameplay.
- A variety of weapons, including rare legendary items.
- Contracts to build faction relationships and unlock account upgrades.
All progress made during the alpha will be wiped before the game’s official launch.
Crossplay and Platform Availability
Marathon supports crossplay across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, allowing players to team up regardless of their platform.
